Understanding Home Care Packages
The Home Care Packages program is an initiative funded by the Commonwealth Government, designed to provide ongoing support for older Australians who wish to continue living independently at home.
Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)
Entry-level support for people with low needs
Basic care and support, like meals, cleaning, and personal care
Less funding than HCP
Home Care Package (HCP)
More comprehensive care for people with complex needs
A wide range of services, including nursing, allied health, and personal care
More funding than CHSP
Care Coordination from Home Support Perth available
Both CHSP and HCP are government-funded programs that help people live at home. The level of need determines which program a person is eligible for.
CHSP is for people who can manage but need help with a few tasks at home. HCP is for people with more complex needs, such as those who need help with activities of daily living.
To be eligible for either CHSP or HCP, a person must be 65 years or older, or 50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people.
People wishing to stay in their homes and receive government support for services will need to access My Aged Care.
At Home Support Perth, we recognise the importance for older Australians in maintaining independence in the comfort of their own home.
Home Support Perth collaborates with HomeMade – a trusted and approved Aged Care Provider to support you in navigating the complexities of Home Care Packages. Together, we ensure your individual needs are met, empowering you to remain in your own home with confidence and greater choice.
